FRISCO, Texas — No. 13/9 SFA has earned the Stats Perform National Team of the Week honor as announced by the organization Monday morning. This recognition comes in the aftermath of the Lumberjacks' victory over No. 23/25 Abilene Christian, defeating the then-ranked No. 23/25 Wildcats 26-7. 

The 'Jacks scored all 26 of their points unanswered in the final three quarters of the game, using another impressive performance from QB Gavin Rutherford to claim the win. Rutherford completed 17 of 31 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns, adding another 39 yards on the ground to go with a rushing touchdown. SFA's run game in totality demolished the Wildcats Saturday night, amassing 216 yards on 6.2 yards per carry. 

Colby Carthel's team has emerged victorious in 14 of its last 15 outings dating back to last season. The 'Jacks lone loss in that span came to eventual national champion Montana State in the FCS Quarterfinal round. SFA will now turn the page to a Week 3 matchup at RV/RV Prairie View A&M.
