Offensive Player of the Week: Aidan Jakobsohn, UTRGV – QB – Jr. – Ingleside, Texas (Ingleside High School)
Jakobsohn came off the bench to lead UTRGV to a 27-10 win over McNeese, accounting for three touchdowns – two rushing and one passing – after the starter was banged up in the first quarter. He finished 10-for-20 with 137 yards in the air to go along with 65 rushing yards and rushing touchdowns from seven and three-yards out. Jakobsohn helped the Vaqueros total 488 yards of offense, the second-most against McNeese of any opponent this season.
Defensive Player of the Week: Jaiden Haygood, UTRGV – LB – Jr. – Converse, Texas (Judson High School)
Haygood led a UTRGV defense which held McNeese to a season-low 279 yards in a 27-10 win Saturday. He tabbed 13 tackles, including two TFL, and had his first career interception in the fourth quarter. Haygood had back-to-back solo tackles during a drive early in the fourth quarter to stymie McNeese in the red zone, limiting the run on first and second down to force McNeese to heave passes on third and fourth, both of which went incomplete to force a turnover on downs. He flew around the field, maintaining a presence that helped limit the Cowboys to 109 rushing yards.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Dkhai Joseph, Southeastern – WR/PR – Jr. – Reserve, La. (East St. John High School)
Joseph returned a punt 78 yards for touchdown, giving Southeastern an 18-point third-quarter lead on the way to a 38-35 victory over ULM. The win marked the Lions' first-ever victory over an FBS foe in 36 tries and the first SLC victory over an FBS program since 2022. Joseph, who also hauled in a team-high six passes in Saturday's win, is averaging 19.8 yards per punt return through the season's first four games.
