FRISCO, Texas — Northwestern State's Emily Gundin, Bonnie Miller, and Audrey Marfia swept this week's Southland Women's Soccer Player of the Week awards, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Offensive Player of the Week: Emily Gundin, Northwestern State – Sr. – F – Valrico, Fla. (Bloomingdale HS)
Gundin had a sensational weekend, scoring two goals and recording an assist. She had a hand in both game-winning goals in a 2-0 week. The senior scored a great goal to start the scoring against Lamar and then recorded an assist off a great pass to her teammate for her game-winner against Stephen F. Austin. Gundin is tied for second in the Southland in both goals (7) and assists (5) and alone in second in points (19).
Honorable mention: Barela Paisely, HCU
Defensive Player of the Week: Bonnie Miller, Northwestern State – Jr. – D – Colleyville, Texas (Colleyville Heritage HS)
Miller tallied a pair of impressive goals in the win at Stephen F. Austin. She scored the first two goals for the Demons, each time answering an SFA goal. To start the weekend, she led a defense that posted a shutout against a strong Lamar squad that many believe will contend for the conference title.
Honorable mention: Judith Nandwa, East Texas A&M
