Postgame Quotes
Lamar Head Coach Larry Tidwell
Opening Statement - "We shot the ball well. It's been one of our best strengths as a team. We were able to win 24 games this season largely in part to our shooting ability. We kept our turnovers to a minimum and started hot from the field which got our confidence up and really got things rolling for us. Defensively we were able to play our game and disrupt Southeastern enough to come out on top."
Lamar senior forward Darika Hill
On importance to set the tone early on - "We knew if we came out and played aggressive defense first that the offense would follow, and we were able to do that."
Lamar junior Jenna Plumley
On team's offensive flow - "We wanted to get our confidence up early and knew how important that is in a tournament game. Defensively we felt we could slow Southeastern down and make plays."
Lamar freshman Kalis Loyd
On three-point shot before halftime - "We got the rebound, took it and went down the floor and I got a good look at the basket, and took a chance. It was a good shot to have going into halftime."
Southeastern Louisiana Head Coach Lori Davis Jones
Opening Statement - "Cinderella was not wearing green and gold this year. If you remove the first half and just look at the second half, we played a pretty good game. But unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Lamar is a very talented team. I can see why they are the No. 1 seed in the tournament."
On missed opportunities - "It's tough. We felt we were able to play with them in the low post area but we weren't able to take advantage. We didn't get the rebounds like we have before so we didn't have a lot of second chance points."
Southeastern Louisiana senior forward Zevy Ivory
On getting into foul trouble early in the game - "It was very disappointing. I just tried to keep my head up and encourage my teammates and remind them what they need to do."
