Postgame Quotes

Lamar Head Coach Larry Tidwell
Opening Statement
- "The only opening statement I'd like to make is our girls played a really, really hard nosed game. They played great. They played with emotion. They played really physical. It was a very physical game and I feel it was very spiritual too. We played as a team and that was one of the things we had talked about. We wanted to play together, we attacked and I am very proud of them."

On excitement of entering the NCAA Tournament - "It's great. It's been since 1991 for Lamar and made it to the Elite Eight. This is only the second appearance for Lamar in 41 years. We are very proud to be going back. We're proud for Beaumont and the Golden Triangle."

On level in play in season and tournament - "The Southland is a tough league. It's been a grind all season. You try to build your players to handle it and once we got into the tournament our workouts had to keep the same intensity. And it paid off for us. We were able to run in each game during the tournament."

Lamar junior guard Jenna Plumley (All-Tournament Team)
On making the NCAA Tournament
- "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my teammates, my coaches, my family and all the support we've recieved all season. It's indescribeable. I believe now that anything can happen. It's just very exciting."

Lamar senior forward Brittney Williams
On making the NCAA Tournament after four years at Lamar
-"I think every player when they come in as a freshman, their dream is to make it to the NCAA Tournament. And it happened for me in my final year and to go with players like Darika Hill and Jenna Plumley makes it all that much better."

Lamar senior forward Darika Hill (Tournament MVP)
On being named Southland Conference Tournament MVP
and tournament play - "It's an honor but it wasn't what I was playing for. We were one win away today from the NCAA Tournament. So I just really concentrated on that and helping my team win."

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Head Coach Robert Robinson
Opening Statement
- "First of all I like to give credit to Lamar. I thought they played a great game today. They played strong in both halves and showed why they're the No. 1 seed. I thought their athleticism and their speed hurt us the whole game. We couldn't get matched up with them. They came ready to go and I give them a lot of credit. But I also want to give our kids a lot of credit for being here too. We were picked to finish eighth this year and were not a No. 8 seed team as you guys can tell. We've had a good year. Our kids played hard, they left it on the floor and hopefully they're not done."

On what happened after losing early lead - "They hit four three-pointers in a row uncontested and that gave them a lot of confidence at that point and it kind of deflated ours."

On Lamar's offense - "They did exactly what they did to us in the regular season. Lamar started out in a man-to-man and we were able to score against it. Then they shifted to the one-two-two zone. Which we've had problems with in both games before and he was smart enough to stick with it and not get out of it."

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi senior center Elisa Beagle (All-Tournament Team)
On run to the Southland Conference Tournament
- "I will take a lot away from it. It was all a great learning experience. It shows when we put our hearts into it what we can do. I think our team made a good run and it's the best team I've played on and I'm very proud of them."

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi senior guard/forward Deziree Green
On run to the Southland Conference Tournament
- "It's definitely been a great year. I love my teammates and my coaching staff. It's been a fun experience. We weren't even expected to be here so I'm proud of the year we had."
