Gigi Assi joined the Southland Conference in 2025 and serves as Chief of Staff, supporting the Commissioner and overseeing the conference’s key operational, administrative, and strategic initiatives.
In this role, Gigi manages priorities across departments, strengthens communication and culture within the conference office, and acts as a primary liaison to university presidents, athletic directors, and senior leadership. She also leads the coordination of all Board and leadership meetings, manages special projects, and assists in the planning and execution of major Southland events.
Before joining the Southland Conference, Gigi spent several years with Renaissance Search & Consulting, where she led client services and executive search engagements for sports organizations across the NBA, NFL, NCAA, and global agencies. Her work focused on building senior leadership teams and helping drive strategic partnerships at the intersection of sports, entertainment, and brand marketing.
Gigi is originally from Boston, Massachusetts where she earned her bachelor's degree in political science and international Relations at the University of Massachusetts Boston. In her spare time, Gigi serves as the Founder and CEO of Prodigy Pathways, a Texas-based nonprofit that pairs professional athletes with student-athletes for mentorship, academic support, and community impact.
Gigi enjoys philanthropic work, developing community programs, traveling, and outdoor exercise.
