FRISCO, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana duo of Jacqueline Arrington & Rachel Hartmann, and HCU's Grace McLaughlin have won this week's SLC Volleyball Player of the Week Honors, as announced by the Conference on Monday.
Offensive Player of the Week: Rachel Hartmann, Southeastern – Sr. – OH – Slidell, La. (Pope John Paull II HS)
For the fourth time this season, Rachel Hartmann has been named the SLC Offensive Player of the Week. Hartmann averaged 4.83 points per set as SLU took firm control of the race for the SLC regular season championship by extending its historic win streak to 18 matches, finishing a pair of season sweeps with straight sets wins over A&M-Corpus Christi and Incarnate Word. She averaged 4.67 kills per set on a .650 attack percentage in the two matches this past weekend, along with two block assists. In the win over the Islanders, she had 20 kills on a .731 attack percentage with an assist and added five digs. Hartmann added eight kills on a .500 attack percentage with two block assists and nine digs against the Cardinals as the Lady Lions used a very balanced attack against UIW with five players getting at least seven kills and none with more than nine.
Defensive Player of the Week: Jacqueline Arrington, Southeastern – Sr. – MB - Houston, Texas (Pearland HS)
Jacqueline Arrington has earned her second SLC Defensive Player of the week award this season. Arrington totaled 10 blocks in that huge victory over the Islanders. She had five kills and five total blocks (4 BA, 1 BS) as SLU held the Islander offense to just a .184 attack percentage during Thursday's match. Arrignton followed that up with 5 total blocks, all assisted, during Saturday's match against UIW while also picking up a dig and led the match in kills with nine on an errorless .692 attack percentage.
Setter of the Week: Grace McLaughlin, HCU – So. – S – Lucas, Texas (Lovejoy HS)
Grace McLaughlin is now a two-time recipient of the SLC Setter of the Week honor this year. McLaughlin helped the Huskies to a pair of road wins this past week, averaging 12.33 assists and 3 digs per set. Her excellent distribution helped the Huskies defeat Northwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce in two 3-0 sweeps. McLaughlin ranks second in the SLC with 813 total assists this season. HCU are 11-5 in SLC play, and currently occupy fourth spot in the SLC standings.
