UIW's Hall & Clarkson, SLU's Fuller win season-opening Women's Soccer Player of the Week Awards

FRISCO, Texas – UIW’s Makenzie Hall and Eve Clarkson, and Southeastern’s Kelsey Fuller are the winners of this week’s Jersey Mike’s Southland Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week awards, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Goalkeeper of the Week: Makenzie Hall, UIW – Sr. – McKinney, TX. (McKinney Boyd High School)
Hall kept two clean sheets to open the season for the Cardinals. She played all 180 minutes across the two contests this week, making five saves against Rice, and another against Prairie View A&M. Her solid defensive foundation contributed to UIW’s first 2-0 start since 2015.

Defensive Player of the Week: Eve Clarkson, UIW – Gr. – Whalley, Lancashire, England (St. Wilfrid’s Academy)
Clarkson was another key contributor to the Cardinals’ two shutout wins this past week. She played every minute of the 2-0 win over Rice, before also playing more than an hour in the 7-0 demolition of Prairie View A&M. Clarkson also scored the second goal for The Word in their victory over the Owls with her only shot of the weekend.
Honorable Mention: Olivia Hughes, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

Offensive Player of the Week: Kelsey Fuller, Southeastern – Sr. – Alexander, NY (Byron-Bergen HS)
Fuller scored in both of the Lions’ matches last weekend, helping them to a 1-1 start to the season. In the season-opening 2-0 victory at UTRGV, Fuller turned home a cross from Halli Roe with a flying header to give the Lions the eventually decisive two-goal advantage. On Sunday, Fuller scored another header in the Lions 5-2 loss against the Houston Cougars. Across 114 minutes played, all 3 of Fuller’s shots this past week were on target.
Honorable Mention: Sierra Wannamaker, UIW
