FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern's Jalencia Pierre has won this week's SLC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Pierre is the first SLU player to win the award this season.
Women's Player of the Week: Jalencia Pierre, Southeastern – So. – Springfield, La. (Amite High School)
Pierre helped the defending SLC Champions go 2-0 last week and improve to 4-0 in conference play this season. She scored 13 points in a big win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, before tying her career high with 21 points in an overtime victory at McNeese. Pierre sent the game into overtime with a clutch three-pointer from downtown with less than a minute to play, and also contributed four steals and five assists in the victorious effort.
