FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls' Diante Smith has won this week's SLC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Smith is the second Colonel to earn honors this season, joining teammate Jamal West Jr., who took home the opening week honors.

Diante Smith drained a last second three-pointer from over 30 feet to force overtime at HCU, going on to score a career high 23 points in the Colonels' thrilling Southland opening victory. Smith started the extra period with a three-pointer, finishing the night 5 of 10 from behind the arc. He also flirted with a triple-double, totaling eight rebounds and seven assists while adding three steals and a block. In addition to ranking in the top 10 of the SLC in scoring and rebounding, Smith currently ranks first with 2.5 steals.
