SFA's Kipruto, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Khatevi Earn Jersey Mike's Runners of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – SFA's Elkana Kipruto and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Elizabeth Khatevi were named the Southland Conference Cross Country Male and Female Runners of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Kipruto earns his second runner of the week honor this season.

Men's Athlete of the Week: Elkana Kipruto, SFA – Fr. – Kenya
Kipruto competed at the Arturo Barrios Invitational on October 18 and crossed the line in 22:29.50, breaking another SFA school 8K school record. He broke the previous school record, which was also set by Kipruto, just two weeks ago by 50 seconds. He was the top finisher for the Lumberjacks in fifth place overall.

Women's Athlete of the Week: Elizabeth Khatevi, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – Fr.
Khatevi opened the month on October 4 winning the Joe Paine Notre Dame Invite after running a 16:48.10 in the women's 5K. She finished first of 182 runners to secure the victory. Khatevi followed it up at at the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invite on October 18 with a school-record 6K time of 19:12.30, placing fifth of 394.
