FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern infielder Maddie Watson and Northwestern State right-handed pitcher Kenzie Seely are this week's winners of the Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Softball Player of the Week awards, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Hitter of the Week: Maddie Watson, Southeastern - Jr. - IF - Baton Rouge, La. (Parkview Baptist HS)
Watson led Southeastern with a .545 batting average and four RBI at the Ole Miss Classic that included wins over Ole Miss, Kent State and UAB. She forced extra innings with a two-run single versus Ole Miss in an eventual 9-4 victory. She's currently third on the team with a .396 batting average, while leading the team with 10 walks and four doubles.
Pitcher of the Week: Kenzie Seely - Sr. - RHP - Whitney, Texas (Whitney HS)
Kenzie Seely threw a pair of two-hit complete games this week in her five total appearances and three starts. She tossed a run-rule shortened shutout against Stephen F. Austin and then held Tarleton State to just two runs on two hits for her second complete game of the week and seventh of the season in an 8-2 victory. She held opponents to a .148 batting average last week, including a matchup with Texas' No. 2 ranked offense in the country.
