FRISCO, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Emma Aucagne and NJIT's Pablo Perez Ramos have won this week's Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Tennis Players of the Week awards, as announced by the Conference Office on Tuesday.
Women's Player of the Week: Emma Aucagne, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – Sr. – Saint-Fons, France
Aucagne got the Islanders off to another winning start in SLC play, helping them to top Southeastern 4-0 in the conference opener. After pairing with Naomi Moi McKenzie at No. 1 doubles for 6-1 win to start the match, Aucagne notched her second win of the day with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles. She is now 9-2 overall on the year at the No. 1 line.
Men's Player of the Week: Pablo Perez Ramos, NJIT – Rs. So. – Canary Islands, Spain (Pureza Demarea)
Perez Ramos highlighted a big week for the Highlanders as the team went 2-0 with wins over in-state rival Monmouth and #67 Dartmouth. In Thursday's win vs. Monmouth, Perez Ramos won his No. 1 singles match in straight sets and dominated his way to a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles with teammate Wil Jenkins. In the Highlanders 4-1 upset win at #67 Dartmouth, Perez Ramos edged out his opponent in No. 1 singles in a tight, three-set match and once again teammed with Jenkins for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
