LAKE CHARLES, La. – Day One of the 2026 Southland Conference Individual Tennis Championships wrapped up on Friday afternoon, with two women’s matches taking place. The event is being hosted at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center, the home courts of the McNeese programs.
 
UTRGV senior Santiago Serrano came away with a win in the lone singles match of the day, defeating Nicholls’ Felipe Spagnuolo 6-7 (7-2), 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the semifinal round against top-seeded Lamar. The UIW tandem of Alejandro Hernandez and Alex Flores picked up a doubles win over Nicholls teammates Marcell Marki and Mateo De Los Santos by a final of 6-2, 7-5.
