SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Fourth seed Lamar, second seed NJIT and thrid seed New Orleans won quarterfinal matches in the 2024 Southland Conference Men’s Tennis Championships at the McFarlin Tennis Center on Thursday.

Lamar's Brandon Do and Martin Garcia-Ripoll dominate Lucas Schurdevin and Nicolas Trebuchet in doubles, winning 6-2 at No. 2. The Cardinals pick up their final doubles point with wins from Joan Crespo and Haruki Omori-Cowie over Islanders' Iannis Fernandes and Antoine Vicaire 6-2 at No. 3. After gaining the doubles point, fourth seed Lamar rattled off three wins in singles to advance to the semifinals.
Martin Garcia-Ripoll picks up a win against Avery Zavala (6-4, 6-3) at No. 1. Max Amling defeats Etienne Marty in No. 2 7-5, 6-2. Haruki Omori-Cowie earns the final singles point against Matthieu Coignet at No. 6 6-1, 7-6.
With this win, Lamar will meet regular season champions, UIW in the semi-finals on Saturday.

The Highlanders won at No. 2 and No. 3 to secure the doubles point to take the early lead. Os Callo von Platen and Nejc Skorjanc were 6-3 victors at No. 3 over Nicholls' Ammar Fekery and Antonio Sasso, and Max Amling and Filippo Salsini won a tiebreak 7-4 to take a 7-6 overall win at No. 1 and earn the point.
Salsini took a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles and Brandon Do won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles to put Lamar within a point of the win. NJIT’s Pablo Perez Ramos upset Player of the Year Amling 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1, before LU’s Max Milic clinched the math with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 5.
(6) NEW ORLEANS 4, (3) Bryant 2
The Bulldogs fended off the Privateers in the doubles matches to earn the first point. Jean-Christop Baril with Marcus Macaulay and Daniel Baquero and Diego Serra Sparrow snatched victories that put Bryant ahead heading into singles play.
But the six seed rallied from that point, surging ahead in the singles round. Marcel Volz defeated Otakar Ungerman 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in first singles while Matthew Ambruster handled Jose Davila 6-3, 6-3.
Daniel Baquero lifted Bryant for a final time, beating Joseph Townes 6-2, 6-0 in sixth singles. But Matthew Ambruster and Sergi Tintore sealed the victory with triumphs in third and fifth singles.
The Privateers earn a spot against the Highlanders in Friday's semifinal contest.
