FRISCO, Texas — The Southland Conference announced its Volleyball Preseason Poll and All-Conference teams Thursday with SFA taking honors as the early favorite for the 2024 campaign in the spot. The Lady Jacks received 17 first-place votes and 233 total points to claim their placement.
Following SFA is fellow Southland newcomer UTRGV with 212 points and three first-place votes. Defending conference champion Southeastern slotted in third with 207 points and two first-place votes.
2023 runnner-up Texas A&M-Corpus Christi came in fourth while HCU followed in fifth with two first-place votes. McNeese (144) and Northwestern State (120) were the final two teams that tallied over 100 points.
UIW, New Orleans and Texas A&M-Commerce rounded out the top 10 with Lamar and Nicholls claiming the final two spots.
A&M-Corpus Christi headlined the all-conference team with three selections, the most of any team. McNeese, Northwestern State, SFA and UTRGV all claimed two.
The Southland Conference preseason poll is voted on by each head coach and volleyball sports information director. Each voter ranks their predicted order of regular season finish, not including their own team.
