FRISCO, Texas — Northwestern State's Mya Blake has earned Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, the conference office announced Monday.

Blake helped lead Northwestern State to a pair of weekend wins and its third straight victory to go 3-1 in Southland Conference play, its best start in nearly a decade. She averaged 17.5 points per game and despite being 5-5, she hauled in nine rebounds in each game. As a point guard, she also distributed 4.5 assists per game. Blake scored four points and dishing out an assist in the 12-0 run to finish out a 12-point win against Nicholls after the game was tied at 44-44. Mya contributed playing tremendous defense on Swift, the conference leading scorer and two-time player of the week, holding her to six points the final 28 minutes of action.
