NATCHITOCHES — Weather impacted the 2025 Southland Fall Tennis Championships for the second day in a row, but that accelerated timeline led to the crowning of three champions Friday afternoon in Natchitoches. McNeese's Salome Fluri advanced to and won the Women's Individual title while SFA's women and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's men claimed the Individual Doubles Championships.
The No.1 seed Fluri started her Friday by taking out No. 4 Yaiza Vazquez of UTRGV 6-3, 6-3. She would meet No. 3 Felicia Back from SFA in the championship match later in the day, handling that challenge 6-0, 6-2.
In the doubles action No. 1 Ksenia Mamontova and Jemma Cave rallied to defeat No. 2 Kseniya Ramanouskaya and Yana Mykytyn 3-6, 6-0, 10-8. The men's bracket saw No. 2 Mattieu Coignet and Mikel Garmendia surge past No. 2 Lamar's team of Fabian Anthin and Leon Nickel 6-3, 6-4. They faced No. 1 Alejandro Hernandez and Emilio Vila of UIW in the championship match, carrying that success over with a hard fought 6-3, 6-7, 10-4 triumph.
Fluri and the two doubles teams advance to the ITA Masters Tournament in November in San Diego, Calif.
Men's singles semifinals pitted Hernandez, the No. 1 seed, against UTRGV's Santiago Serrano who fell to Hernandez 6-3, 6-3. No. 2 Leon Nickel of Lamar earned his spot in Saturday's final, defeating No. 3 A&M-Corpus Christi's Etienne Marty 7-5, 7-6.
