FRISCO, Texas – New Orleans' David Tesic and A&M-Corpus Christi's Yana Mykytyn have won this week's Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Tennis Players of the Week awards, as announced by the Conference Office on Tuesday. 

Men's Player of the Week: David Tesic, New Orleans – Sr. — Kamp-Lintfort, Germany
Tesic moved his record to 10-1 on the season after an unblemished week in singles that included winning a 10-point tiebreaker against A&M-Corpus Christi's Nicolas Trebuchet. Tesic's only loss on the season was against Sam Reeve (Memphis). He has nearly matched his career singles win total coming into 2025, which stood at 12.
Honorable mention: Nathan Favier, A&M-Corpus Christi

Women's Player of the Week: Yana Mykytyn, A&M-Corpus Christi –  Fr. – Truskavets, Ukraine (Distance Learning School "Angstrem")
Mykytyn won a pair of three-set duals in conference play both at No. 3 singles, helping the Islanders defeat both New Orleans and SFA on the week. She won 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 against the Privateers before aiding a narrow 4-3 match win against the Ladyjacks with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 singles victory. Mykytyn additionally posted a 6-3 win with partner Kseniya Ramanouskaya at No. 1 doubles against SFA, as the match inevitably came down to the doubles point. The duo was leading 5-4 at No. 1 doubles against UNO before the other courts clinched.

Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director. Voting for one’s own athlete is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots.
