UIW's Posts Scorching Second Round, Augusta Remains in Front After Round 2

KERRVILLE, Texas – UIW shot a blistering 274 (-14), moving within three strokes of the tournament leader Augusta in Round 2 of the Southland Men's Golf Championship. The Cardinals 573 (-7) trail the Jaguars 569 (-11) heading into the final day of play here at Comanche Trace Golf Club. 

Bo Blanchard remained Augusta's driving force, shooting 67 (-5) to bring his tournament score to 133 (-11). He ended his front nine with an eagle put before a back nine that consisted of five birdies. Pieter Rossouw supplemented Blanchard's performance with a 68 (-4) round and sits in third place. 

UIW's Ken-Marten Soo stole the show in Round 2, swinging a 64 (-8) round that fueled the Cardinals rally. Francisco Taboada shot a 69 (-3), maintaining his top five spot. 

UTRGV and Lamar both saw Round 2 improvements now siting in third and fourth respectively with scores of 579 (+3) and 580 (+4). Francis Marion slotted into fifth at 590 (+10) with Xavier Schwarz at 141 (-3). 

HCU holds sixth with a score of 592 (+16) while East Texas A&M fell from second to seventh after a 305 (+17) round. SFA ended the day in eighth with a 597 (+17) score. Nicholls moved up to ninth now at 604 (+24) while New Orleans' 609 (+33) and Southeastern's 610 (+34) rounds out the table.

The final round of the championship will tee off at 10 a.m.
