FRISCO, Texas — Southeastern's Kyra McKelvey, Southeastern's India Bennett and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Virginia Van Der Werff have earned this season's first Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Volleyball Player of the Week awards, the conference office announced Monday.
Offensive Player of the Week: Katherine Holtman, SFA – So. – PIN – Argyle, Texas (Argyle High School)
Katherine Holtman led the team with 42 kills on the weekend, including 18 kills against Sam Houston which is a new season high and just two short of her career high. She also recorded four aces, 14 digs, 12 blocks, 52 points, and hit .315 over the weekend. Holtman averaged 3.23 kills per set, 0.92 blocks per set, and 4.00 points per set.

Defensive Player of the Week: India Bennett, Southeastern – R Sr. – MB – Prairieville, La. (Dutchtown High School)
Bennett averaged a whopping 2.63 blocks per set as Southeastern went 2-0 at the Central Arkansas Invitational, picking up four-set wins over both Little Rock and Central Arkansas on the weekend. She picked up nine blocks, four solo, in the win over the Trojans where she also had 11 kills on a .409 hitting percentage, giving her a career high 17 points in the match. Against the Sugar Bears, she was part of 12 blocks, two solo, while getting nine kills to finish the match with 16 points.
Setter of the Week: Calissa Allison, UIW – So. – S – Pflugerville, Texas (Concordia High School
Allison recorded three double-doubles this past weekend at the BYU Nike Invitational, totaling 92 assists, 42 digs, 10 kills, six blocks, five aces, and 18.5 points across three matches. Over 12 sets she averaged 7.7 a/s, 3.5 d/s, and 1.5 p/s, helping the Cardinals snag a victory over Northern Colorado despite falling in two tough battles with Wichita State and nationally ranked BYU.
