SFA Wins Back-To-Back Outdoor Track & Field Titles, 4x100m Meet Record Set

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The SFA Lumberjacks scored 164 points to win the 2026 Southland Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the second-straight year on Saturday.

Northwestern State placed second with 124 points, while UIW came in third with 117 points.

The Northwestern State Demons’ Eddy Vu, Keoante Gaines, Antione Evans and Kalen Beavers set a new meet record in the 4x100m relay with a time of 49.22. The previous meet record was set last year by East Texas A&M (49.38).

Enoch Fosuhene of East Texas A&M claimed Most Outstanding Performer honors with 20 points, after winning the  100m dash and taking second in the 200m. He also won bronze as a member of the 4x400m relay team. 

SFA’s Paul Kiprotich won Newcomer of the Year honors scoring 20 points. Kiprotich placed first in the 5,000m and 10,000m races.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Samson Black and East Texas A&M’s Cheyne West won co-freshmen of the year. Both athletes scored 14 points.

SFA head coach Rob Hansen was named the Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year. This comes after also winning the accolade for the second time during the indoor season, where he also led the Lumberjacks to a championship title. 

Additional event winners from day three included SFA’s Brayden Hill (pole vault), Bryson Williams (triple jump), Jarvis Anderson (400m hurdles), East Texas A&M’s Calen Jones (high jump), Oguz Uyar (200m), Northwestern State’s Tarajh Hudson (discus), UIW’s Anthony Zapata (1500m), HCU’s SJ Marais (110m hurdles), Raphael Aureau (800m), New Orleans’ Keldrick Turner (400m) and Northwestern State’s 4x400m relay.
