Jimenez of UNO, Tammam of HCU claim opening Southland Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards of 2023

FRISCO, Texas – New Orleans' Ariana Jimenez and HCU's Reem Tammam are the winners of the opening Southland Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award of the 2023 season, as announced Wednesday by the conference office.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week: Ariana Jimenez, New Orleans - Jr. - Apopka, Fla. (Apopka HS)
Jimenez won the steeplecase at the Louisiana Classics with a time of 10:51.82. Her time ranks first in the Southland this season, first in the South Central Region and 9th in the nation.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week: Reem Tammam, HCU - Fr. - Cairo, Egypt
Tammam placed second in the triple jump and third in the long jump at the UH Spring Break Invitational. Her mark of 12.49m (40-11.75) ranks first in the conference, 11th in the West Region, and 21st in the NCAA. Her mark in the long jump was 5.78m (18-11.75).
