FRISCO, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Lucie Charbonnier has been named the Southland Conference’s Women’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Year, as the annual All-Academic Team was announced Tuesday.

Charbonnier carries a 3.72 GPA as a business major and named to the All-Southland Conference First Team. She won A&M-Corpus Christi’s postseason tournament for the second year in a row, being crowned champion of the PGA Works Collegiate Championship. She helped the Islanders win the tournament for the third year in a row. This came after Charbonnier placed top 10 at the conference championship. Charbonnier led the Islanders with a 73.50 scoring average, which included 10 rounds of par or better and four rounds in the 60’s. Her low round was a 67.  She was also a second team all-academic selection in 2022.

She is joined on the all-academic first team by fellow first team all-conference selections Elise Parel of HCU, and Alex Giles and Ellen Nicholas of UIW. HCU’s Jackie Nguyen rounds out the first team.

UIW and HCU each had three total all-academic selections, followed by two from A&M-Corpus Christi. Augusta, Lamar, and A&M-Commerce each had one pick.

The all-academic teams are voted on by a head coach, sports information director and an academic/compliance staff member from each Southland Conference institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA and completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to qualify for All-Academic selection. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have earned at least a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated athletics achievement for at least two years at the nominating institution.
