Softball season opens with SLU's Krolczyk and Nicholls' McNeill winning Player of the Week honors

FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern's Bailey Krolczyk and Nicholls' Audrey McNeeil are the winners of the Southland Conference Softball Player of the Week awards for the first week of the 2024 season, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Hitter of the Week: Bailey Krolczyk, Southeastern - Sr. - C - Corpus Christi, Texas (Veterans Memorial HS)
The reigning Southland Conference Player and Hitter of the Year picked up right where she left off a season ago, helping the Lions to a 5-0 week at the Mardi Gras Mambo. Krolczyk hit .533 while leading Southeastern with two home runs, nine RBI, two triples, two doubles and a 1.333 slugging percentage.
 

Pitcher of the Week: Audrey McNeill, Nicholls - Sr. - RHP - Plano, Texas (Plano Senior HS)
McNeill had an impressive opening week for the Colonels, posting an 0.88 ERA with three wins and 13 strikeouts in 16 innings of work. She struck out five in five innings to defeat Providence after giving up just one solitary hit in her win over Green Bay. She allowed just eight hits overall and tossed four hitless innings in her victory against Montana in the finale. McNeill's lone loss came on opening night against No. 15 LSU where she gave up one earned run on four hits in 3.0 innings.
