FRISCO, Texas – Freddy Richardson of Lamar & Slavko Stevic of Southeastern earned the Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Freddy Richardson, Lamar – Distance - Gr. – Colchester, England
Freddy Richardson earned his first Athlet of the Week award of the season after competing in a stacked field of some of the nation's elite at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Richardson finished third in the 1500m and dropped a personal best of 3:44.70. This time was the fifth-best mark all-time in program history.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Slavko Stevic, Southeastern – Jumps - Sr. – Sremska Mitrovica, Servia
Slavko Stevic won the gold at the 2024 Strawberry Relays, on Friday. He cleared 2.18m (7'1.75") in the high jump and remains the top high jumper in the Southland. Stevic has the third-best high jump on the East Qualifying list, the fourth-highest in the South-Central Region, and the eighth-highest high jump in all of Division I.
