HOUSTON, Texas – The Northwestern State Demons took home the Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship with a 1.5-point win over McNeese.

McNeese’s Morgan Talley claimed Most Outstanding Performer, scoring 36 points with first-place finishes in the long jump, triple jump, heptathlon & a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles.
Northwestern State's win was fueled by a 34-point performance by Sanaria Butler. She took home two gold medals in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400 meter relay, two silver medals in the 200-meter dash and in long jump, a bronze medal in the 4x100 meter relay and also placed fifth in the triple jump.
Other Saturday event winners included HCU’s Jessica Rabius winning both the 800-meter run and 1,500-meter run, Lamar's Brianna Howard in the 100-meter dash and 100-meter dash, Lamar's Nia Clatworthy in the 5,000-meter run, Northwestern State's Vanessa Balde in the 100-meter hurdles, Lamar's Chloe Rodriguez in the 400-meter hurdles and A&M-Commerce's Jenneil Jacobie in the high jump.
