FRISCO, Texas — Infielder Haylie Savage of HCU and RHP Audrey McNeill were named the Jersey Mike's SLC Softball Players of the Week in the final installmetn of the award this season, the conference office announced Monday.
Savage becomes the second Husky to win the hitting award this season (Jasie Roberts, Feb. 19) while McNeill claims the pitching award for the third this year.
Hitter of the Week: Haylie Savage - Jr. - UT - Angleton, Texas (Angleton HS)
The two-time All-SLC selection finished off the regular season with five hits in a series victory over Texas A&M-Commerce, including her career-best eighth homer of the season in the regular season finale. She drove in three, scored three and stole a base while lifting her average to .305 on the 2024 campaign. Savage has played and started in 147 consecutive games for the Huskies since arriving in 2022.
Pitcher of the Week: Audrey McNeill - Sr. - RHP - Plano, Texas (Plano HS)
McNeill closed out the regular season with a pair of three-hit shutouts against her former squad, going 2-0 with 15 strikeouts in the 12 innings of work. In a pitchers duel against reigning SLC Pitcher of the Year Primrose Aholelei, McNeill struck out eight in the Colonels' 2-0 win in the series opener. She followed with seven strikeouts for a 1-0 victory on senior day, securing the team's third sweep in SLC play.
