FRISCO, Texas — UTRGV's Nadine Zech, East Texas A&M's Jade Washington and HCU's Peyton Fadal have earned this week's Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Volleyball Player of the Week awards, the league office announced Monday. This is Fadal's second recognition of the season while Zech and Washington are first-time winners. 

Offensive Player of the Week: Nadine Zech, UTRGV – Jr. – OH – Gardone Riviera, Italy? (Scienze Motorie Bio Sanitario)
Zech's explosive two-game road campaign led UTRGV on the road as the Vaqueros handed UIW and HCU their first conference losses of the season. Zech scored 5.78 points per set as she averaged 5.14 kills per set, totaling 36 kills on an efficient .353 hitting during the 2-0 week. Zech had back-to-back double-doubles (and has recorded three in a row) as she averaged 4.00 digs per set while recording four blocks and two aces, scoring in a variety of ways to improve UTRGV’s winning streak to four matches.

Defensive Player of the Week: Jade Washington, East Texas A&M – Fr. – DS/L – Waco, Texas (Midway High School)
Washington totaled 40 digs in two matches on the road last week. Those game in a three-set win at New Orleans and a four-set loss at two-time defending SLC Champion, Southeastern. She had an average of 5.71 digs per set and added six assists as in her performances. 

Setter of the Week: Virginia Peyton Fadal, HCU – So. – S – Baytown, Texas (Barbers Hill High School) 
Fadal began the week with a career-high 51 assists in 4 sets as the Huskies defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She then followed that up with 45 more in 4 sets against UTRGV on Saturday. Fadal averaged 12 assists per set while also adding two block assists against TAMUCC before registering 3 solo blocks against UTRGV. She is now averaging 11.90 assists per set in SLC play.
