FRISCO – Lamar remains ranked in the FCS Top 25 polls, while four more continue to receive votes from both the AFCA Coaches and Stats Perform polls released Monday.
Lamar continues to pace the Southland in both rankings, checking in at No. 24 in the AFCA Coaches Poll and No. 20 in the Stats Perform Poll. The Cardinals edged Nicholls 24-17 at home to remain unbeaten against FCS competition and will now hit the road for a pivotal matchup at East Texas A&M.
Southeastern, Stephen F. Austin, UIW, and UTRGV all appear among those receiving votes this week, underscoring the conference’s depth and national competitiveness. Southeastern rolled to a 38-0 shutout win at McNeese to move to 2-0 in league play, while SFA earned one of the nation’s most impressive victories—going on the road to defeat then-No. 20 UIW 31-17 to move to 2-0 in SLC play.
UIW, despite the setback, remains among those receiving votes, while UTRGV continues to garner national attention in its inaugural season following a 27-7 home win over HCU.
All four programs—Southeastern, SFA, UIW, and UTRGV—enter Week 6 on a bye before resuming conference play later this month.
