A&M-Corpus Christi Claims Second Team Title, Augusta's Pinillos Wins Low Medalist at SLC Women's Golf Championship

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Following a remarkable 283 (-5) round that vaulted them into the lead, Texas A&M-Corpus held off their competition in the final round to secure their second ever SLC Women's Golf Championship. The Islanders used a 299 (+11) final round score to maintain the lead built on Day 2 here at Kissing Tree Golf Club.

This is A&M-Corpus Christi's first championship since 2009. Tristan Gabbard fueled the Islanders' effort with a 218 (+2) total which placed her fourth overall.

Elsa Tornvall and Samantha Gibbs contributed additional top-10 placements for A&M-Corpus Christi with scores of 220 (+4) and 221 (+5) respectively. Lucia Ramirez finished at 231 (+10).

East Texas A&M and HCU tied for second place with both teams finishing at 902 (+38). Augusta and UIW slotted into fourth at 903 (+39) with SFA finishing sixth at 909 (+45), UTRGV seventh at 913 (+49) and Lamar eighth at 923 (+59).

Augusta's Zoe Pinillos earned low medalist honors, scoring 214 (-2) through three days of competition. She was the only player to finish under par for the entire tournament.

Pinillos also becomes the second Jaguar to win low medalist after Kennedy Carroll reached that mark in last year's tournament.

A&M-Corpus Christi will learn their placement following the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship Selection Show broadcasted on the Golf Channel Wednesday, April 23.
