Southland Conference Announces 2025 Track and Field Student-Athletes of the Year, All-Academic Teams

FRISCO, Texas – HCU's Edouard Lecrivain, Northwestern State's Madison Brown and East Texas A&M's Romi Griese received Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year honors, the conference office announced Wednesday. All-academic teams were also announced.

Men's Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year: Edouard Lecrivain, HCU
Lecrivain earned a 4.0 GPA while majoring in Bussiness Administration. He broke the Southland Conference indoor record in the 800m with a time of 1:47.99 to break a 28 year old record and in the mile (3:59.02). He earned Southland Conference Indoor Newcomer of the Year honors after winning two Golds at the indoor championships, winning both the 800m and the mile.  

During the outdoor season, he broke a 42-year-old conference record in the 800m with a time of 1:47.22, ranking 15th in the NCAA West Region. He went on to run the second-fastest time in the SLC in the 1500m, racing to a time of 3:41.94. The senior from The Hague, Netherlands, reached the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Quarterfinals in 800m.
 
Women's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year: Madison Brown, Northwestern State
Brown maintained a 4.00 GPA in Health and Human Performance and brought home gold in the pole vault at the 2025 Southland Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. She also set a personal-best 8.72 time in the 60-meter hurdles at the conference championship meet.

Women's Outdoor Track & Field Studnet-Athlete of the Year: Romi Griese, East Teas A&M
Griese maintained a 4.0 GPA while studying Biological Sciences. The sophomore from Salzkotten, Germany, won gold in the discus at the 2025 Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She also is a two-time SLC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, President’s List honoree and is on the SLC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. 

The All-Academic teams are voted on by head coaches, sports information directors, and academic/compliance staff members from each Southland Conference institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.25 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to qualify for All-Academic selection, and have competed in at least 50 percent of their team’s meets. Fifty percent of those nominated earn the honor.
