FRISCO, Texas — Nicholls' Reagan Heflin and McNeese's Brookelyn Taylor have earned this week's Jersey Mike's Southland Softball Player of the Week awards, the conference office announced Monday. Both players get the first Player of the Week nods of their career while McNeese and Nicholls players are both recognized for the second straight week. 

Softball Hitter of the Week: Reagan Heflin, Nicholls – Sr. – OF. – Richmond, Texas (Fort Bend Christian School)
Heflin shined at the dish through Nicholls' undefeated campaign at the Troy Trojan Invitational. She had a .600 batting average with seven RBIs as the Colonels moved their winning streak to 
Heflin doubled and totaled three RBI in the win over Kennesaw State then drove in an RBI single in the 6-5 victory over Troy. On Saturday she hit a two-run homer in run-rule win over Furman before capping her weekend with another RBI single.

Softball Pitcher of the Week: Brookelyn Taylor, McNeese – Fr. – RHP – Liberty, Texas (Liberty High School)
Taylor posted a 2-0 record with two saves anda 1.19 ERA in 17.2 innings pitched last week in the five games McNeese played. Taylor picked up wins over Houston and and the second game against Missouri at the Cajun AC Louisiana Clash. Her saves came on the road at South Alabama and the first game against Missouri. She allowed only three earned runs, struck out 8 and walked only three batters.
