ROUND 2 RESULTS
KERRVILLE, Texas — Following a suspension of play on Day 1 at the Southland Men's Golf Championship, action picked back up Tuesday with UIW surging into the lead after two rounds were played to completion. The Cardinals built a four-stroke lead over UTRGV at 2-under 574 fueled by Joel Talusen's 9-under 135.
Talusen leads the pack with his impressive score thus far on the heels of a second round consisting of seven birdies.
UTRGV trails UIW in second place at 2-over 578. The Vaqueros saw a seven-stroke jump in their improvement from Round 1 to Round 2, closing the frame at 7-under 281. Gabriel Dullon Villoslada lead the rally with a 2-under 142 and teammate Jorge Martin Sampedro saw the most notable round-to-round improvement with a 5-under 67 for the second round which has him in a tie for third at 1-under 143.
Joining Sampedro in that deadlock on the podium is East Texas A&M's Cooper Watt and HCU's Mason Napier.
Southeastern's Griffin Dorr holds sixth place at an even 144 through two rounds while Brooks Pawlak of HCU and Rhys Nicholas of UIW settled in a tie for seventh place currently at 1-over 145.
With just one round remaining, Talusen and UIW hold the inside track though a number of players and teams remain in play to earn some hardware come Wednesday afternoon in Kerrville. Tee times for the final round begin at 10 a.m., with live coverage starting at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
