Southland Bowling League announces Academic Honor Roll

FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Bowling League announced its 2023 Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday, recognizing 57 student-athletes across the league’s eight institutions.
 
Stephen F. Austin, Vanderbilt, and Youngstown State lead the league with nine selections to the honor roll. Louisiana Tech had eight honorees, Arkansas State had seven selections, Tulane earned six picks, Sam Houston had five honorees, and Valparaiso earned four spots.
 
Twelve all-academic selections also received all-conference honors, including Southland Bowler of the Year Mabel Cummins of Vanderbilt.
 
The SBL Academic Honor Roll was put into place during the 2018-19 school year and is currently in its fifth season of recognition. All nominees for the Southland Bowling League’s Academic Honor Roll team must have earned at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated athletics achievement for at least one year at the nominating institution.
