Southeastern's Rachel Hartmann and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Kendall Mahaney and Belle Morgan Earn Opening SLC Volleyball Player of the Week Honors of 2023

FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern’s Rachel Hartmann was selected as Offensive Player of the Week, while two student-athletes from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi round out the rest of the weekly awards, with Kendall Mahaney being selected as the Defensive Player of the Week and Belle Morgan being selected as the Setter of the Week. 

Offensive Player of the Week: Rachel Hartmann, Southeastern – Jr. – S/OPP - Slidell, La. (Pope John Paul II Catholic High)In her Division I debut, Hartmann averaged 2.6 kills per set on a 0.338 attack percentage, 3.3 points per set, and 2.7 assists per set. She posted double-doubles in all three matches and was on the verge of a triple-double in 2 of the three matches. 

Defensive Player of the Week: Kendall Mahaney, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – So. – L - Lubbock, TX (Frenship HS)
Mahaney played in all 12 sets to help the Islanders go 2-1 over opening weekend. She suited up as the libero in the win versus Oral Roberts, where she picked up 21 digs, three assists, and two service aces. Mahaney totaled a team-high 41 digs over the weekend, for 3.42 digs per set. 

Setter of the Week: Belle Morgan, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – G. – S – Fort Mitchell, KY 
Contributing to all 12 sets, Morgan opened the season with 24 assists, nine (9) kills, and three (3) blocks. She dished out 40 assists, leading to a .331 attack percentage in the 3-1 win over Sam Houston. Morgan ran the offense to a weekend total of 158 kills for a .239 hitting percentage, totaling 96 assists. She added 19 kills, five (5) aces, and four (4) blocks to opening weekend for the Islanders.
