FRISCO, Texas – Nina De Leon Negron of UIW has been named the SLC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. She becomes the second Cardinal to earn this recognition in 2023-24 after teammate Aliyah Collins, who was recognized in November.

The diminutive guard averaged a double-double last week with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Cardinals to a 2-0 record. She now has five double-doubles on the season while leading the team in assists, steals, and now rebounds. The floor leader averaged over 35 minutes per game last week. De Leon Negron also leads the SLC in assists per game, ranks 2nd in total assists, 5th in rebounds per game, and 2nd in minutes per game.
