INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was selected as a No. 16 seed in Region 3 in Portland as they will battle the No. 1 seed USC Trojans at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

The teams will face off in Los Angeles, California in the first round, slated for March 22-23. A specified date and time will be released by the NCAA later.

The Islanders (23-8) are coming off their first Southland Conference Tournament championship to earn the league's automatic bid to the Big Dance. It is the program's third all-time championship, all coming under head coach Royce Chadwick and all coming within the last five years. It will be the first time in program history that the Islanders make back-to-back postseason appearances after playing in the WNIT last season, but first ever NCAA tournament appearance.

USC (26-5) earned the No. 1 seed after winning its second-ever Pac-12 tournament title, beating out top-seeded and No. 2 ranked Stanford in the final. They finished second in the conference regular season with a 13-5 record.
