FRISCO, Texas - Sierra Land of Boise State was named the 2024 Southland Beach Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Monday.
Land carried a 3.76 GPA in the classroom, graduating Magna Cum Laude as a Health Sciences major. She claimed one half of the SLC Pair of the Year and SLC First Team at the No. 1 position alongside partner Marlayna Bullington. Competing at the top court, Land finished with a 28-13 record, matching the program record for most victories in an entire season.
She picked up three ranked victories on the 2024 campaign and finished the year at 71 career victories, the second-most in program history. Her 45 career wins on the top court are also the most in program history.
Boise State and conference champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi headlined the team with four honorees apiece. Southeastern and HCU earned the remaining spots with each having one selection. First team all-conference players who met the academic qualifications are automatically selected to the team.
The all-academic team is voted on by a head coach, sports information director and an academic/compliance staff member from each Southland Conference institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.25 cumulative GPA and completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to qualify for All-Academic selection. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated athletics achievement for at least two years at the nominating institution.
