FRISCO, Texas — East Texas A&M's Alana Lawless-Felarca, SFA's Bryn Geppert and Northwestern State's Kennedy Rist have won this week's Jersey Mike's Southland Conference weekly soccer awards, the conference office announced Tuesday. This is Rist's third recognition of the season while Lawless-Felarca and Geppert are first-time winners.
Offensive Player of the Week: Alana Lawless-Felarca, East Texas A&M – So. – F – Dallas, Texas (Richardson High School)
With the Lions trailing 2-0 in their Southland Conference opener at Lamar, Lawless-Felarca scored twice to help the Lions tie the match and earn a crucial draw on the road in conference play.
Defensive Player of the Week: Bryn Geppert, SFA – So. – M – Wylie, Texas (Houston High School)
Geppert started in two games with 165 minutes. She collected one goal and assisted in adding two more clean sheets to the season in back-to-back Southland matches, while going 100% on her SOG percentage. Against Northwestern State, she was 100% accurate on passes in the attacking third, with a 65% win rate on duels won, and allowed only two shots in the match. She was expected to play the full 90 minutes before the game was called short in the 77th minute due to the weather.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Kennedy Rist, Northwestern State – R Jr. – GK – Palm Harbor, Fla. (East Lake High School)
Rist made seven saves in the two games, recording a pair of shutouts, including one against SFA in the weekend's SLC Women's Soccer spotlight matchup. In the scoreless draw against SFA, she made three incredible saves in the second half that helped Northwestern State earn the save. Kennedy leads the conference in both GAA and save percentage.
