FRISCO, Texas — East Texas A&M's Daniel Ferguson and UTRGV's Kanyanat Kamphoo have earned this week's Southland Golfer of the Week awards, the Conference office announced Thursday. Both golfers are first-time winners this season.
Men’s Golfer of the Week: Daniel Ferguson, East Texas A&M – So. – Duncanville, Texas (Homeschool)
Ferguson won the individual medal at the LaTour Intercollegiate this past week and guided the Lions to a team win as well. He shot a 65-71-71 in the three rounds for a scoring total of 207.
Women’s Golfer of the Month: Kanyanat Kamphoo, UTRGV – Fr. – Khonkaen, Thailand (Kanlayanawat School?)
Kamphoo finished in a tie for 22nd at Little Rock’s Diamante Invitational after posting a three-round score of 217, which is tied for the sixth-best three-round score in UTRGV history. Kamphoo also finished ahead of all SLC golfers in the tournament, leading UTRGV to an 11th-place finish with a three-round score of 884, the fifth-lowest team three-round score in program history. The Vaqueros also finished with the highest mark of the six SLC teams competing in the field.
