FRISCO, Texas — UTRGV's Esteban Gonzalez and Avery Glanzer have earned this week's Southland Golfer of the Week awards, the conference office announced Thursday. Gonzalez is a second-time winner this season while Glanzer gets her first nod of the year.

Gonzalez posted three-straight rounds under par at FGCU’s West Bay Collegiate, including a three-under 69 on the final day to finish in a tie for 11th place. He led UTRGV (-17) to a seventh-place finish at the tournament finishing ahead of Southland Conference institutions Houston Christian and Lamar. Gonzalez’s 54-hole score of 210 entered the UTRGV record books in a tie for 21st for individual top performances. In addition, UTRGV’s 847 is seventh all-time for the program. He continues his hot start to the fall, posting under par scores in eight-of-nine rounds played.
 
Women’s Golfer of the Month: Avery Glanzer, UTRGV – Fr. – Benbrook, Texas (Benbrook High School)
Glanzer posted a career-best, even-par 213 at Oklahoma’s PD Intercollegiate to finish in a tie for 11th. Glanzer finished ahead of student-athletes from BYU, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, among others. Her 213 was the second-best individual performance in program history, while helping UTRGV post an 882, the fourth-best three-round team score in program history. In the final round, Glanzer jumped seven spots after posting a two-under 69 with only one bogey across the final 18. The two-under was the fourth-best round in program history.
