FRISCO, Texas — UTRGV's Charlotte O'Keefe has earned this week's Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, the conference office announced Monday. This is Roseby's second honor of the season. This is O'Keefe's third honor of the season.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Charlotte, O'Keefe, UTRGV - Forward - Senior - Overland Park, Kansas
O'Keefe recorded back-to-back double-doubles last week, contributing 20.5 points, 18.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists per game. The senior from Overland Park, Kansas, supassed 1,000 career points to become the only player in program history to have 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
She scored a career-high tying 23 points with 19 rebounds and four assists and one block at Southeastern, coming just one rebound shy of her second 20/20 game of the season. O'Keefe led the Vaqueros in a close game at McNeese, scoring 18 points with 18 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one block. After bringing in 37 rebounds last week, she has now recorded more rebounds in 16 conference games (224) than the No. 2 rebounder in the conference has (206) in the entire season. She has scored 20+ points in three games this season and is the only player in the conference averaging a double-double with 12.5 PPG and 13.9 RPG this season.
Her 37 rebounds last week are the most rebounds from 2/16-2/22 of all Divison I women's basketball players.
