Southland Conference Releases 2026 Beach Volleyball Award Winners and All-Conference Teams

FRISCO, Texas –  The Southland Conference has announced the 2026 Beach Volleyball superlative award winners and all-conference teams ahead of this week's conference championships on Tuesday.
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi swept this year's superlative awards. No. 1 pair Kristin Bobay and Madison Morrow were named the Pair of the Year. Mia Stevens, who plays on court No. 5, was named Freshman of the Year, while her pair Saskia Hernandez was named Newcomer of the year. Islanders head coach Gayle Stammer won Coach of the Year for the fourth time in five years.

Morrow and Bobay earned 20 wins on the year and went 5-1 in conference play at from Flight 1. The pair helped the Islanders win its third regular season championship in four years, with all of their conference wins being won in straight sets.  The pair was narned SLC Pair of the Week after opening weekend of the season after wins over (RV) Oregon, (RV) South Florida, and #20 Tulane. Morrow broke the program record for most wins at Flight 1 with 59 in her career, and Bobay became the winningest player in program history with 81 career wins.

Stevens, the freshman of the year, posted the most individual dual wins on the team this season as a freshman with a 23-6 overall record. She was undefeated in league play with the perfect 6-0 mark with five wins coming in straight-set sweeps and earned SLC Pair of the Week honors after going on a 13-dual winning streak. The freshman won 15 of her last 16 duals to end the season. 
 
2026 Newcomer of the Year Hernandez made an immediate impact in the lineup in her first season with the Islanders, going 19-5 overall. She was undefeated in league play this season with the perfect 6-0 mark with five wins coming in straight-set sweeps. She also earned SLC Pair of the Week honors after going on a 12-dual winning streak and won 15 of her last 16 duals to end the season with the 19-4 overall record.

Stammer is the Southland Coach of the Year after leading the Islanders to their third regular season championship with an undefeated conference record. She guided the program to its fifth consecutive 20-win season, including the fourth ranked win in program history over No. 20 Tulane. The Islanders ended the season winning 15 of their last 16 matches, reaching a 13-match winning streak. With this year's regular season title, Stammer has won six total championships as the head of the program with the conference only having awarded 9 winnable trophies in its history for beach volleyball. 
 
The 2026 Southland Beach Volleyball Championships begins on Wednesday, with the winner of the double-elimination tournament taking the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
