FRISCO, Texas — Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Katie Porter along with UTRGV's Sienna Church and Mariana Amezcua have earned this week's Southland Women's Soccer Player of the Week awards, the conference office announced Tuesday. All three are first-time weekly award winners.
Offensive Player of the Week: Katie Porter, A&M-Corpus Christi – Sr. – F – Tampa, Fla. (HomeLife Academy)
Porter scored in both of the Islanders' matches this week, having tallied a goal in each of A&M-Corpus Christi's first five games. The Southland's leading goal scorer this season started the week with the Islanders' only goal against Sam Houston on Thursday to secure a tie against the Bearkats. Porter then followed this up with the game-tying goal against Our Lady of the Lake on Sunday, getting A&M-Corpus Christi on the board for the first time in what ended up being a 2-1 victory.
Defensive Player of the Week: Sienna Church, UTRGV – So. – M – Vancouver, B.C. (Ecole Salish Secondary)
Church helped UTRGV to wins while playing 180 minutes this week at Tarleton and at home against Texas A&M International. Church also recorded the game-winning assist on a free kick opportunity in the 41st minute that Amy Romero was able to head into the net to lift the Vaqueros past TAMUI, her first assist of her career.

Goalkeeper of the Week: Mariana Amezcua, UTRGV – So. – GK – Puebla, Mexico
Amezcua shined for UTRGV, recording a new career-high eight saves against Tarleton on 19 shots. Her resilience resulted in her first clean sheet as a Vaquero. She started and played the entire first half vs. Texas A&M International in a shutout 1-0 win.
