Augusta Races Out to Early Lead at Women's Golf Championship

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Zoe Pinillos shot a 70 (-2) to sit atop the leaderboard as the two-time defending champion Augusta Jaguars took a five-stroke lead after the first round of the 2025 Southland Women's Golf Championship. 

The Jaguars shot a 295 (+7) on the day behind Pinillos, who had six birdies in the round, and Sara Adams, who shot a 74 (+2) to sit in sixth place. Marine Legentil was 11th with a 75 (+3), while Jess Pilgrim rounded out the scorers with a 76 (+4).

Despite being in the first group, Lamar turned in a brilliant first day with a team score of 300 (+12) behind Lucy Bedford and Brook Frerichs 74's (+2). 

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi turned in a score of 303 (+15) to sit in third behind Lucia Ramirez's 74 (+2), while UIW was fourth at 304 (+16)  with a score of 304 (+16) behind Isabella Saenz's 73 (+1).

Lou Rousselot (72) and Natcha Makmanee (74) pace HCU to fifth at 305 (+17), while Natalia Rodriguez Perez (72) paced UTRGV in sixth at 309 (+21).

Marie Baertz (+2) led East Texas A&M, who sits tied for seventh at 310 (+22), while SFA rounded out the team scoring at 310 (+22).

Round two will begin at 1 p.m. tee times this afternoon.
