Alden of Boise State Named Beach Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Year, All-Academic Teams Announced

FRISCO, Texas - Allyson Alden of Boise State was named the 2025 Southland Beach Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Tuesday. All-academic teams announced.

Alden earned a 3.95 GPA in the classroom, majoring in Business Administration. She was named Newcomer of the Years and SLC First Team at the No. 2 position with partner Sharli O'Neil. The pair finished the year with a 21-10 record, 15-7 from court No. 2 and 6-3 from the No. 1 court.

The senior from San Marcos, California, won won three matches against ranked opponents, including No. 11 Arizona State, No. 18 Grand Canyon and No. 7 Florida State. Alden also went 7-1 against conference opponents in the regular season and went 2-1 at the conference tournament. 

Boise State, the 2025 Southland Beach Volleyball Tournament Champions, headlined the team with eight honorees, while runner-up Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and HCU each had two. SFA and McNeese earned the remaining spots with each having one selection. First team all-conference players who met the academic qualifications are automatically selected to the team.

The all-academic team is voted on by a head coach, sports information director and an academic/compliance staff member from each Southland Conference institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.25 cumulative GPA and completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to qualify for All-Academic selection. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated athletics achievement for at least two years at the nominating institution.
