FRISCO, Texas — McNeese's Alexi Pitt, SFA's Bryn Geppert and HCU's Emmy McKeon have won this week's Jersey Mike's Southland Conference weekly soccer awards, the conference office announced Tuesday. Geppert and McKeon are repeat winners while Pitt earns recognition for the first time this season.
Offensive Player of the Week: Alana Lawless-Felarca, East Texas A&M – R Jr. – F – Jacksonville, Fla. (Bolles High School)
Pitt delivered a standout offensive performance for the Cowgirls this week, playing a total of 167 minutes (77 minutes against East Texas A&M and 90 minutes against Nicholls) and scoring two of the team’s four goals. Both goals came in the 89th minute of play. Against East Texas A&M, her late equalizer secured a 2-2 draw, while her game-winning goal at Nicholls lifted the Cowgirls to a 2-1 victory, marking their first road win and first conference win of the season. Pitt finished the week with 4 points and played a pivotal role in both results, leading the offensive spark for the Cowgirls.
Defensive Player of the Week: Bryn Geppert, SFA – So. – M – Wylie, Texas (Houston High School)
Geppert recorded two 90-minute matches, with 180 minutes on the week. Against SLU, she went 75% on defensive duals in her 90 minutes of play. She scored the game-winning goal against UTRGV on a single shot, earning a 1.000 shooting percentage on the match. Against UTRGV, she posted a 75% pass accuracy and went 100% on her defensive duals, as she assisted in shutting out UTRGV in a 1-0 victory in the seventh shutout of the season.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Emmy McKeon, HCU – So. – GK – Kaysville, Utah (Farmington High School)
McKeon totaled 10 saves in a pair of matches this past week with one of those ending in a victorious effort. She recorded her 3rd shutout of the season with 3 saves in the Huskies' 1-0 win over Northwestern State.
