FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern's Onyah Favour and East Texas A&M's Jenneil Jacobie win the Southland Conference Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards, respectively, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. This is Jacobie's second weekly honor of the season.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Onyah Favour, Southeastern – Sprints - Jr. – Asaba, Nigeria
At the UAB Green and Gold Invite, Favour collected two wins, claiming first in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Favour set school records in both events with times of 7.39 and 24.03, respectively. The junior's 7.39 time in the 60-meter dash ranks third among all Southland Conference student-athletes this season. Her 24.03 200m time stands as the best time this season in the SLC, over 0.2 seconds ahead of second place.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Jenneil Jacobie, East Texas A&M – High Jump - Sr. - Piat Grand Rivière, Saint Lucia
Jacobie competed at the Charlie Thomas Invitational with a jump of 6-1.5 (1.87m) to win the meet. Her mark is a new Southland record, school record, and also tied for eighth in the country. She is the only non-Power Four jumper in the top 15 in the Nation.
