FRISCO, Texas – Northwestern State's Rushana Dwyer and Eliska Zahradnickova have earned this week's Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week honor, respectively, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Rushana Dwyer, Northwestern State – Sprints - Sr. – St. Eliizabeth, Jamaica?
Dwyer posted a pair of victories at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational in both the 200m and 400m. She ran the best time in the league this week in both events, which includes the top mark in the 400m in the SLC this outdoor season (53.76) and is second in the SLC in the 200m this outdoor season (23.86).
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Eliska Zahradnickova, Northwestern State – Throws - Sr. – Vyskov, Czech Republic
Zahradnickova had a tremendous home meet at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational, starting the day off with a throw in the discus of 172-6, which is the best mark in the Southland Conference by more than eight feet. She also placed second in the shot put with a toss of 46-6, which was nearly a PR, but still the sixth-best mark in the conference.
